TRAUMA FACT TUESDAY – For many, actually living in awareness of what we feel in our bodies has led us to numb our sensations over time. For some, control over our physical bodies was forcefully taken from us and we lost agency to say no. And for some, living in constant oppression out in the world has become the norm. How do we take back ownership of our bodies? We learn to fiercely take up space again. We learn to gently feel our bodies from the inside out. We learn to self advocate in the health care system. We learn to not fear our power or anger. And, we find the strength to say THIS IS MY BODY. #traumarecovery #traumahealing #antioppression #kyriarchy #whenthebodysaysno #claimyourpower #reoccupyyourbody

SELF CARE SUNDAY – Yup. We struggle so hard to be big ‘good’ breathers. When in reality, safety in and around us is the best breathing medicine. Taken from my mouth during Movement for Trauma Level One this weekend. Thanks to @innerflow_wellness for being here to support this weekend and reminding me of the words that flow.

BODY WISDOM WEDNESDAY – BEFORE your body screams at you with all the stuff that goes along with anxiety or physiological activation, noticing and not fixing your breath is like taking a temperature on how your body is reacting to the present moment. If you’re already in an intense anxious or panicked state, you can skip this mindfulness tool BUT you can avert full blown anxiety by checking in on your breath and repeatedly taking your ‘activation temperature’. Then, you know you’ll have to resource yourself with embodied self regulation tools to bring your activation temp down. I help my clients create the tools and resources that the most efficiently for them. Book a free in-person or online consultation. Link in my bio! See you soon! #bodywisdomwednesday #traumarecovery #ptsdrecovery #anxiety #selfcare #traumainformedminsfulness

MINDFUL MOVEMENT MONDAY – Mindfulness is one key way we can learn to stay in our surfs boards without falling into the choppy waters and drown in our stress or emotions. At a certain point, stress can be so big that our minds need help staying on the surf board which is often where balance work comes in for me. Staying physically balanced and calm at the same time strengthens our minds’ capacity to do so for sooooo many reasons. #mindfulmovement #mindfulmovementmonday

Always finding pendulation makes its way into any of my mini movement practices between clients for the nervous system benefits it offers me. This movement is not for everyone especially folks with neck or back ‘issues’. Movement between clients is essential IMHO especially people whose work has them sitting and listening a lot.
